I have an iMac 27 that runs (too) hot running ubuntu.
It throttles to 1.6G, 2G and 2.7G. OSX sleeps at full speed to control power. There is a hint that linux power saving can do this, but I've not explored.
Some one posted that they run their mac-mini on ubuntu without it getting hot. My wife is very protective of her mini :-(
So MacBook is of great interest. I use VBox extensively and it works well.
