I have been following the tread for the Quick Capture Interface (http://www.nabble.com/2.6.26-patchset-to-help-Quick-Capture-development-td18523189.html#a18523189) for a while now, but it seems to be stuck shortly before it's finish. Is there some ongoing development or has anyone heard of another solution for using the Quick Capture Interface on a Verdex? I have already read the Wiki page http://docwiki.gumstix.org/index.php/Quick_Capture_Interface , but as I am new in Gumstix and embedded development, this page provides not much help for me. Is it possible to use the Quick Capture Interface only with an kernel update to version 2.6.26 or can I take another way to get it working more easily? Thanks for any input. Regards, Sven Additional information: I have no camera yet, but I think of choosing a Micron MT9V022 CMOS sensor. My Verdex is already extended by a netwifimicroSD extension board, so I have to develop a little board in between these two to connect to the Quick Capture Interface pins. Unfortunately the CIF_DD08 pin is already in use by the netwifimicroSD board, so only a 8-bit camera device connection is possible. |

For our part, we've had issues with our OmniVision sensors not responding to I2C commands. We've produced extension boards to pass through lines from verdex to netwifimicroSD and pull out the camera lines, which seems to work fine. The easiest way to get it going would be to find a pre-built sensor board that already has a driver written. Issues: 1. It's difficult to find a pre-built camera board that has a driver. 2. Most drivers for QuickCapture are in the new Video4Linux patches first added to kernel 2.6.26. Thanks for your replies. I think finding a camera which can be used with the quick capture interface is not the hard part. I found for example this one: http://www.phytec.de/fileadmin/user_upload/downloads/Manuals/VM_007_COL_Flyer_engl.pdf (The MT9V022 is used which is supported by kernel 2.6.26) In my opinion, the hard part in using quick capture would be programing the driver or migrating the new 2.6.26 kernel to the Gumstix... If anyone has found a solution for this I would love to hear from you. Maybe it is possible to compile the new v4l with the old kernel version? Regards, Sven |
