I have an rtc plugged on the i2c gumstix port.
I used 2 pullup (1 on each line).
When I used the i2c software (by dave hyland I think)
I get the following error messages:
[root@... i2c]# ./i2c --count=8 0x50 readbyte 0
i2c: error: exhausted retries
i2c: msg_num: 0 msg_idx: -2000 msg_ptr: 0
i2c: ICR: 000007e0 ISR: 00000002
i2c: log: [00000446:000007e0]
ERROR: I2cTransfer: ioctl failed: Remote I/O error
ERROR: I2cReadByte failed: -1
Using a scope, I can see the scl signal moving, but
the sda signal is always at 3.3v (there is a pullup).
do somebody have any idea of the problem ? I followed
what I had to do to enable the i2c
( /sbin/modprobe i2c-dev
what could be the problem ?
Thank you all

Hmm. You should see the sda line changing as well.
One of the most common problems is forgetting to use a common ground.
The fact that scal is changing and sda isn't suggests that you may be
connected to the wrong place or have a bad connection.
