In my experience, it's usually the cable if the camera isn't detected.
If you have another cable I would try that. If not keep trying to reseat
both sides. I have some cables that have never worked.
You can also slow down the I2C clock to 100 kHz. It might be running
at 400 kHz and slowing it down sometimes helps.
This will show you the I2C speed
root@...# dmesg | grep i2c
You can change the speed in several places. The kernel board file for one
(you'll see it) or as a kernel command line parameter from u-boot :
