Two questions regarding the IronStorm vs FE COM: 1. Will my rootfs and kernel, that I currently use on the FE, work on the IronStorm? 2. Will the IronStorm power consumption be significantly less than on the FE at low cpu frequencies? 1. Yes, depending you how old your FE is you might need to reconfigure your bootloader to use a different serial port (i think /dev/ttyO2 vs /dev/ttyS2) 2. Not certain, but I suspect it won't be significantly lower since at low clock speed the SOC might not be dominating the power draw. Unfortunately this love is tainted by the fact that I can not restart the system. Neither shutdown -r nor pressing reset work for OveroWater and OveroFireStorm. U-boot hangs before or during uncompressing kernel. I tries different kernel versions / and latest u-boot (2012.07). The only way out is unplugging power. Anybody else facing this? Andreas |

I'm testing two new Ironstorms with the same MLO, u-boot, kernel, and rootfs that I use on the FEs. (Flashed to NAND.) I booted up both ironstorms with my usual SD card that has my images for flashing to NAND. Should the way I make a ubi image and flash it to the NAND change at all for the IronStorm from the FE? I'm following the instructions in Method 2 at http://www.sakoman.com/OMAP/how-to-write-an-ubifs-rootfs-image-to-nand.html?utm_source%3Dfeedburner%26utm_medium%3Dtwitter%26utm_campaign%3DFeed:+BeagleBoard+%28BeagleBoard.org%29 to make the ubi image, and then the instructions at http://www.gumstix.org/how-to/70-writing-images-to-flash.html to write to the flash. The Gumstix product info page for the IronSTORM COM claims that "According to Texas Instruments, DM3730 is fully backward compatible with previous OMAP™ processors." So I got my Ironstorm to boot by switching from Sakoman's omap-3.2 branch to omap-3.5. I'm using the same firmware files as used to work for me on the Overo Fire/FE, with omap-3.2. On boot I never see "mmc1: new SDIO card at address 0001." I do see this message when booting 3.0 from an SD card (I'm booting 3.5 from NAND.)
