I followed the getting started instructions
http://www.gumstix.net/Software/view/Getting-started/Setting-up-a-build-environment/111.html for building a new build environment for an old gumstix basix. However, instead of taking 20 min, it has taken several hours and is still running as I write this. Why is bitbake building native versions of things like libxml2, expat, berkleydb, dbus, gnome-common, gconf, etc? I shouldn't need any of those things to compile code for a basix board.
Why is bitbake building these things?
