I just purchased a Connex 400xm + netCF and am having problems getting the
network to function as advertised.
I'm able to boot the computer and configure the network interface with a
static address, but I can't ping anything (or connect in from other machines
on the network). I am successful in pinging the IP address that I set on
the computer, but nothing else on the network (like my gateway or another
If I look at the ifconfig, I see the RX packets have frame errors, but the
TX packets are fine. I thought this was a bad network cable/switch port, so
I tried trading out all those components. This brought about no change, so
I disconnected a working Connex 200xm + netCF; and brought it to the
location of the non-working computer--to test the network. I'm not having
any problems with a Connex 200xm + netCF that was plugged into the same
network cable/switch port, just the new computer.
I verified that both devices have different MAC addresses (except during the
UBoot portion). I wasn't successful getting network connectivity during the
UBoot prompt, so I flashed the device over Kermit to see if maybe there were
problems with the factory loaded boot image. This took a while compared to
the TFTP flash, but still didn't fix the network problems.
Does anyone have an ideas that I may have missed? I think I have a
defective netCF board and want to RMA it for a working one, but had to
bother the whole group before an RMA number would be issued.

Sounds like almost certainly a hardware problem, requiring an RMA.
Please contact Don Anderson or Jack Hayes <don@...> or
<jack@...> to process your RMA.
