I thought I'd read that someone had done this, but I can't find the post.
I was planning on plopping down a UCB1400 on a small PCB along with a hirose connector to plug in a connex, another hirose for my 6.4" display, and power conversion circuits.
The only reason I was choosing the UCB1400 was that's what was on the audiostix and I figured someone had probably "blazed the trail" using it. Linux configuration, etc.
If not, I guess I'll get a little smarter--I have no need for the Codec, just touch screen interface. Maybe hardware that interfaces to a serial port would be easier.
There are touch screen controllers available at digikey
Digikey part number 296-14340-1-ND
These are I2C touch screen controllers in 16-pin TSOP package.
They are only 36 cents cheaper than the UCB1400.
