Yep - I can confirm the HOST USB port does work when R-26 is removed from the bottom of the Overo board. Sounds like there may be an "issue" with the board. gm... Hi Gary, Yup, these are powered hubs. I just pulled the boards and inspected the r26 pads for a bridge (nothing) and reseated. I am still not seeing any devices off of the EHCI port. :^( It sounds like it should just work once r26 is pulled. thanks, Douglas 03.20.09 gnmckinney wrote: > > Doug, > > You are using a powered HUB right? > > You might want to re-seat the Overo board on the Summit board - the EHCI > USB signals come directly through one of the 70-pin connectors I believe > and if the connector is not seated properly you would have this issue. > You have already removed R-26 but did you look really close to make sure > there was not a solder bridge formed between the vacant R-26 pads?... Greetings, I just got an Overo Earth a few days ago and am having troubles getting the EHCI USB port working. I have removed R26 from the Overo board. I have tried the latest kernel (2.6.29-rc8) as well as backing off to 2.6.28. I have also tried several 2.0 hubs, as well as using a standard mini-a/mini-b and the supplied OTG mini-a/mini-B cables on both kernels. Every time I plug a cable in, I do so before I boot the card (I noticed that there were issues with this for other people on the forum). I do not see the hubs (using lsusb) on the EHCI port, but they show up fine on the OTG port. Is there anything I am missing to get this to work? I took a look at settings under 'menuconfig', but didn't see anything that needed to be turned on. I am starting to suspect bad hardware. Being a newbie with bitbake, I can't seem to figure out how to force it to use 2.6.29-rc2. This is recommended on the gumstix site. I was able to turn it back to 2.6.28 by uncommenting 'DEFAULT_PREFERENCE = "-1"' in linux-omap3_git.bb. Any help would be most appreciated. I need to get both the OTG and EHCI ports working on the board for my project. found this blurb about separate processes, but i'm working with pthreads http://www.qnx.co.jp/developers/docs/6.3.2/neutrino/prog/using_gdb.html wonder if this is still applicable to how "threads" are implemented in gumstix... does anyone know if pthreads are implemented as processes in gumstix (how? why?) ? thanks, hypo hypo wrote: > > hi > > i have gdbserver running on verdex xl6p: i can debug and put break points > in simple single file / single-thread programs. it stops at the right > place and works perfectly. however, if i try to set a break point in > another thread (a file different from the one containing main), i get the > following: > > Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. > 0x400547a8 in ?? Doug, You are using a powered HUB right? You might want to re-seat the Overo board on the Summit board - the EHCI USB signals come directly through one of the 70-pin connectors I believe and if the connector is not seated properly you would have this issue. You have already removed R-26 but did you look really close to make sure there was not a solder bridge formed between the vacant R-26 pads?... I had that happen and caught it using a 20X loupe to inspect the pads after removing the R-26 (Speck) resistor. gm... Hello, I'm using verdex-pro BT. On the bootup, I see that the gumstix find no rtc and he set the time at previous shutdown. The kernel has been compiled with the rtc module and I load the module in /etc/modules I would like to understand why he cannot detect the RTC at boot time, and Where I can see the message : no rtc ... thank you __________________________________________________________________ Be smarter than spam. I have built the window manager for qt4-x11-free and all of the libraries it requires to operate. I have loaded the files to an external micro-SD card as instructed by the following link: http://www.gumstix.net/User/view/User-how-to-s/Installing-packages-to-MMC/SD/microSD-memory-cards/110.html when I get to the ipkg -link step, I get the following error: root@...:/media/card$ ipkg-link mount /media/card *** Command: mount *** Command: add *** Locating package *** Found package on /media/card *** Adding dbus-1 *** Done. *** Command: add *** Locating package *** Found package on /media/card *** Adding libc6 dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ln: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory rm: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory rm: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory rm: error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory At this point, ls failed to operate as did most other shell commands. The "rm: error" continues for every package I have loaded on the mmicro-SDcard. Is this an indication I have run out of memory in FLASH? If yes, how do I limit the size of the kernel and contents of the jffs2 so I have room? I ran make xconfig and rebuilt the kernel and basic image however the size of the newly created files did not change as compared to the files before I ran make xconfig. Any help or pointers? Thanks Charles |

In /etc/inittab, is there a line that spawns getty on tty0 and/or tty1 (whichever is your LCD)? If not, you need to add it. Use the existing line for ttyS0 as a template. Using 'git pull' is probably the minimum you need to know about git, but I'd suggest reading one of the many git primers available on the web to get a better idea of how you could use this powerful tool. Like OE, there is a pretty steep learning curve, but it is worth the effort. BTW, I have build stats for my build machine online, so if you want to look the what is/isn't building on the overo branch of OE you can peak at: http://www.sakoman.net:8000/ Be warned though that OE stats does get somewhat confused at times, reporting packages as failed that actually succeeded. I don't yet trust it to be gospel :-) Steve > sakoman wrote: >> >> On Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 7:23 PM, gnmckinney <gary.n.mckinney@...> >> wrote: >>> >>> Well - to answer my own query (and for others who run into such >>> issues).... >>> >>> I was not aware there is a site the shows the current status of packages >>> and >>> the revision level each package is at... pxaregs is used to display and alter PXA registers. This patch is to access the registers related to the RTC on the PXA270 (so not external). If you look at the documentation for the chip it explains what is powered in what state. I've been using standby not sleep so haven't had to look into powering the RTC. joeynor wrote: > > This might be a stupid questions, but what are you using for your > real-time > clock. > Are you using an external RTC or you are using the power management on the > verdex? > I heard a lot of people implementing RTC using an external clock. This might be a stupid questions, but what are you using for your real-time clock. Are you using an external RTC or you are using the power management on the verdex? I heard a lot of people implementing RTC using an external clock. Is this patch for the external clock? I've also heard that you can use VBatt line to power the RTC when the processor is a sleep. I think I installed ppp using ipkg over an ethernet connection. If you have a working internet connection on the gumstix, try 'ipkg update && ipkg list|grep pppd' and see which ppp packages area available for installing. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been working my way through this thread to get my Huawei modem working and hit a snag with ppp. My gumstix verdex kernel doesn't appear to have ppp built into the kernel as a module. I've checked with make menuconfig and my kernel does have ppp option as a module so I don't know which step I'm missing. I only ever download the uImage and the file system to the verdex and assumed that the modules would be included in that. Anybody got any advice for me that would get me ppp working? hi i have gdbserver running on verdex xl6p: i can debug and put break points in simple single file / single-thread programs. it stops at the right place and works perfectly. however, if i try to set a break point in another thread (a file different from the one containing main), i get the following: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. 0x400547a8 in ?? () (gdb) where #0 0x400547a8 in ?? () Cannot access memory at address 0x280 i get absolutely no stack information. it seems to have the correct symbols because i can list the file and set a break point on the function (by using the function name and not just the file:line-number). info threads also gets confounded: (gdb) info threads Cannot access memory at address 0x280 1 thread 272 0x400547a8 in ?? () warning: Couldn't restore frame in current thread, at frame 0 0x400547a8 in ?? () and if i try to continue past this, the thread that broke doesn't seem to be running at all. has anyone seen this issue before? any clues would be very welcome! my .gdbinit looks as below: [begin .gdbinit] set solib-absolute-prefix /dev/null #set solib-search-path /home/hypo/gumstix/gumstix-buildroot-1614/build_arm_nofpu/staging_dir/lib/ set solib-search-path /home/hypo/gumstix/gumstix-buildroot-1614/build_arm_nofpu/staging_dir/lib/ handle SIG32 pass noprint nostop set print pretty on set auto-solib-add on set print symbol-filename on target remote 192.168.1.100:2000 set scheduler-locking step #set scheduler-locking on set arm abi AAPCS [end .gdbinit] thanks! hypo -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/gdb-can%27t-see-call-stack%3A-SIGTRAP-tp22615190p22615190.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
