Hey,
I just got through the same problem, with help from some really good people. This thread describes exactly how to set up a webcam for the Verdex:

I was using the Quickcam 4000, but the same steps can be used to build in a wide range of drivers.

Hello

I have the verdex-xm4 gumstix(running openembedded) and the console-vx and
netmicroSD expansion boards.
Has anyone been able to run a usb webcam on a verdex, and if yes, could you
please make a short guide.
If the webcam can use the gspca driver, how do you build it for the
gumstix????

Thanks
Regards

Martin
