Ah, thats probably where the problem lies. I didn't actually build my own image, I nabbed it pre-built from some other source. Is there no other way of getting the packages I want without rebuilding a new version of ubuntu?

also when you build your arm image for ubuntu you can include specific packages you want to be in there as well.
