This normally happens when the audiostix is not attached -- I think there's a bug in the pxa-ac97 driver where loading the module will hang if there is no ac97 board.  I should probably fix that...  Check your audiostix is seated properly on the connector, then try loading the module again.

Hello !
I saw that someone had the same problem 2 month ago ( here)

it looks ok for some modules :
    # modprobe -v soundcore
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/soundcore.ko

but when I do :
    # modprobe -v pxa-ac97
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/oss/pxa-audio.ko
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/oss/ac97_codec.ko
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/oss/pxa-ac97.ko
and it hangs up !
I can login with ssh, and ps shows me :
    1331 root        328 S   modprobe -v pxa-ac97
    1338 root        356 S   sh -c insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/oss/pxa-ac97.ko
    1339 root        272 R   insmod /lib/modules/2.6.11gum/kernel/sound/oss/pxa-ac97.ko
I use trunk rev.494 (rev.505 does the same)
Perhaps audiostix is broken ...
Does anybody know the real problem ?
