I just had this problem, I used a new SD card and it worked.

Version of kernel:       2.6.39
The Gumstix boots from Micro-SD. Sometimes, the Gumstix starts successfully.
 Sometimes the Gumstix fails to start. And in this case,  the following error message is displayed.
In addition, in both case the setting is exactlly same.
