Yes yes yes yes yesssss .....

Yes Steve, thank you Neil, and thanks to all Gumstix's users who have endured this hard time with me!

I believe this is the power and values that come out when people all together a united as a family and looking forwards to a common goal which is success. This has been going on for months now but with your willingness and determinations, we have come to the end. 300mA - 3.6VA (max) => 12V max => 300mA can not sustain the Tobi expansion board where as the Water COM might draw more than 500mA!!!!

Conclusion: The power supply couldn't provide the required current to the Water COM reason why continuous rebooting!!!!

PS. Just for clarity: After the booting process, will the red LED (near the Ethernet port) be flashing?
Also I have notice a small sound/noise during and after booting.

Did anyone experience this?

Thanks to all,
Gutembert.

I don't know if I'm understanding the label correctly but if 300mA is the max current across all output voltages then this is likely your problem. What expansion board are you using?

Yes, continuous rebooting is the classic symptom of a power supply that can't provide adequate current.  The power draw is relatively low during the initial part of the boot sequence, as more parts of the chip become active power use goes up, the supply voltage droops, and the system reboots.

Steve,

The Pictures were taken the day I bought the Power supply! reason why on the picture, the arrow is pointing at 12V but before using it for my Water COM, I turned it to 4.5V.

It sure looks to me like you have that supply set to 12V, not 4.5V!

To my eyes the head of the selector arrow is pointing to 12V.

Here are the pictures attached; I set the power supply to 4.5V, the USB cable I am using from my PC to the daughterboard is connected to the daughterboard's USB port opposites to the Power supply (Not the one next to the the Power supply!)

I will try my best to look around for another USB cable and Power supply.

ckermit has always been simple and easy to use for me. Maybe give
another program a try instead of picocom.
Good Luck :)

Sorry no other idea's I can think of hopefully someone has some thing for you soon.

One last idea is are you sure the USB cable you are using from the daughterboard to your pc is the correct one. I think it is a mini b, but dont hold me to that check on the site for the daughterboard you are using, possibly even try another cable maybe. Other than I am out of idea's maybe try contacting gumstix and see what they say and point them to your threads.
