One can also cross-compile the Linux kernel by following the instructions from the following site

Hope this helps..

Im running 2.6.35 on the overo.  You just make the recipe yourself by copying
the 2.6.34.bb file and subdirectory to 2.6.35 and making sure to update the
tag and stamp values for the git section in the recipe. And also update
site.conf and add PREFERRED_VERSION_linux_omap3="2.6.35".

It runs ok, however there seems to be an issue with the gpio driver
interfacing to the lcd, however i dont use an lcd so its not a problem.

I have also ran the very latest 2.6.36-rc3 on overo.  It boots and runs but
there are quite a few issues with hardware initialization so beware of that.
