It’s a waysmall 400xm-bt and the error I am receiving is: (Replace command with others listed below) –sh: mmcinit: not found

That appears with all the listed commands required to load the images to ram, and subsequently to flash. I have a 256mb SD card in the slot with the images on it.

Ok. I followed all the listed steps, especially the greatly needed step 4. Actually repeated it twice… hope that doesn’t have a negative impact. ;) Read the instructions on the WIKI for getting the images loaded over to the Flash. Problem is that none of those commands worked. (mmcinit, fatls mmc 1, fatload mmc 1…, and so on) So.. I think I am going to wait until yall are read for the upcoming release.

Hmm, if those command didn't work, what error message did they give?  Presumably (I don't have your order in front of me to know what hardware you're working with), if you're using those commands it's because you have a gumstix basix with an MMC or SD card in it, or you have a connex with a netMMC card.  If you do have an MMC or SD card in a slot connected to the stix and the mmcinit command is failing, then that's a problem -- it should be working.
