I have the following antenna connected to my GPSstix:http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=177
I'm monitoring it via gpsd/gpspipe, and I'm getting this when I dump the raw output:
Thu Jan 1 00:06:58 1970 :$GPGGA,,,,,,0,00,99.99,,,,,,*48
Thu Jan 1 00:06:58 1970 :$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,99.99,99.99,99.99*30
Thu Jan 1 00:06:58 1970 :$GPGSV,2,1,07,02,,,25,09,,,28,11,,,25,14,,,26*7D
Thu Jan 1 00:06:58 1970 :$GPGSV,2,2,07,16,,,26,19,,,25,20,,,27*75

Thu Jan 1 00:06:58 1970 :$GPZDA,,,,,00,00*48

From looking at the sentence structure, it appears that the GPS isn't getting enough signal, but it's out in the open with clear view of the sky, and my handheld GPS acquires just fine from the same location. I've given it more than enough time to cold-start (30+ minutes).
From what I've read of the sentence structure, the GPGSV,2 part means that it has acquired 2 satellites. At some points this count goes as high as 3, but still no position fix.
The GPSstix chipset is a UBLOX NEO-45-0-000. If the antenna that we're using isn't the correct one, then can someone recommend a very small, lightweight antenna with an SMA connector that will work?
