Hi,

I followed the instructions per:

http://wiki.openwrt.org/DropbearPublicKeyAuthenticationHowto

but it doesn't seem that Dropbear sshd honors the keys I stored in authorized_keys.  Also, there is no instruction on how Dropbear ssh (client) offers its public keys, as /etc/dropbear doesn't contain any .pub files.

Do you know of other things I can try?  Thanks.

Yes; I do not use a password when logging in via ssh (OpenSSH on my desktop, DropBear on my Gumstix). If I'm not mistaken, the details to accomplish this are on docwiki.gumstix.org -- it's a while since I set it up and I'm not certain.

Are you able to do key exchanges to log in without entering passwording each time?

        I thought DropBear works with OpenSSH clients.  I'm using Putty with DropBear and it's working just fine.

                Hi,

                But OpenSSH supports ssh-key sharing, which makes life so much easier in cross-communication.  It's a shame that there isn't some easy way of debugging this (using a debugger with stack tracing capability).

                Thank you so much for letting me know this, so I don't keep thinking that it's something I did wrong.

                        I've been experiencing this for quite a while now. Due to it, I've dropped use of OpenSSH and fallen back to DropBear instead.

                        Hi,

                        My OpenSSH utilities (ssh-keygen) and server (sshd) are seg-faulting with build 1491.  I checked that the dynamic libraries exist:

                        # /usr/bin/ssh-keygen
                        Segmentation fault
                        # ldd /usr/bin/ssh-keygen
                                libcrypto.so.0.9.7 => /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 (0x4000e000)
                                 libutil.so.0 => /lib/libutil.so.0 (0x40106000)
                                libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x4010f000)
                                libcrypt.so.0 => /lib/libcrypt.so.0 (0x40128000)
                                 libresolv.so.0 => /lib/libresolv.so.0 (0x40145000)
                                libc.so.0 => /lib/libc.so.0 (0x4014e000)
                                libdl.so.0 => /lib/libdl.so.0 (0x401a9000)
                                libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x401b3000)
                                ld-uClibc.so.0 => /lib/ld-uClibc.so.0 (0x40000000)

                        It's open-ssh3.9p1 in rev 1491, just as in rev 1161, where SSH worked like a champ.

                        Anyone experiencing similar problems?
