(My apologies if you are receiving this in duplicate; the first time I sent this it didn’t seem to go through)

Anyone have experience using a USB-to-serial device on the Gumstix Overo?  I’ve been beating my head trying to get one of these adapters to work (I’ve tried 2 FTDI devices and one Prolific device).  I plug the adapter into a powered USB hub (I have a USB Ethernet adapter also plugged into this USB hub, and that works fine – so I don’t think the issue is with the USB hub).  I installed the ftdi driver (kernel-module-ftdi-sio).  However, in /dev, I don’t have a device like “ttyUSB0” show up when the USB-to-serial adapter is plugged in.  When I boot the Overo, I see that the device is recognized:

usb 1-1.2: new full speed USB device using musb_hdrc and address 4

usb 1-1.2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

usb 1-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=0403, idProduct=6001

usb 1-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

usb 1-1.2: Product: FT232R USB UART

usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: FTDI

usb 1-1.2: SerialNumber: A70076KJ

And in /dev, I see some related devices:

crw-rw----   1 root root    254,  12 Jan  1  2000 usbdev1.4_ep00

crw-rw----   1 root root    254,  11 Jan  1  2000 usbdev1.4_ep02

crw-rw----   1 root root    254,  10 Jan  1  2000 usbdev1.4_ep81

However, I can’t “cat” to any of these devices, and as I mentioned I don’t see any device like /dev/ttyUSB show up.

Any help is very much appreciated!
