To Scott's:

Looks like you are trying to insert the module on your workstation.
It's for an overo not a pc.

and Dave's:

Just in case Scott's suggestion is incorrect, the other reason this
will fail is if the kernel running on your overo is a different
version of the kernel being built in your build system.

thanks.

At the booting on overo, at the message "Hit any key to stop autoboot." "5", "4",...
I will hit a key, do the insmod myspy.ko, then at the overo prompt I will type "boot".

The booting will start executing Scott's kernel myspy.ko.

(on a side note, Dave, I am amazed at how helpful you are; I was in Vancouver, B.C.,
but came to U.S. because I found people there cliquish to UBC, SFU and UVic educations;
this happened even though my education was validated at a good level by APEGBC and UToronto;
Dave and Scott, you are welcome to visit me and the project, to put faces on posters,
if you come to San Diego, Ca..)

Just in case Scott's suggestion is incorrect, the other reason this
will fail is if the kernel running on your overo is a different
version of the kernel being built in your build system.

You need to make them match.
