I am trying to get my overo-fire to shutdown gracefully.  from the console i have tried

shutdown -hP now

and from the desktop i have selected it to shutdown.  In both cases it does what looks to be a shutdown process, but in the end the power remains on and so does the network.  It seems it kills some processes during the shutdown process but not all of them.  Besides that it definitely appears that the gumstix is still on, when I would hope that it is off.

Is there something that needs to be set so that the overo-fire actually does power off when you tell it to?
