Hi AJ,

I decided to go with libjingle. I wrote a working program for my pc and now
trying to port it to the gumstix. Have you tried to compile the libjingle
for the gumstix? Are there any existing recipes?

thanks

Used xmpp  (python-xmpp python library) for sending jabber/google talk messages for updating dynamic network addresses
for a few months for a few monitoring boxes.

More than a few different xmpp libraries for python.

can be as simple as
import xmpp

username = 'username'
passwd = 'password'
to='name@example.com'
msg='hello :)'

client = xmpp.Client('gmail.com')
client.connect(server=('talk.google.com',5223))
client.auth(username, passwd, 'botty')
client.sendInitPresence()
message = xmpp.Message(to, msg)
message.setAttr('type', 'chat')
client.send(message)
