Hi Demetris,

Thanks for the tip. I'm familiar with their products and I love SparkFun. I actually placed an order there yesterday. Unfortunately their LED controller kind of drops the ball in my opinion. It only allows 7 colors per LED. I'm doing PWM so I have an (effectively) unlimited amount of colors which I need for a project I'm working on.

Anyway, great site. Those guys get a good chunk of my paycheck every two weeks :)

Thanks,
Jason

The ones to +5 should be PNP, with active-low enable pulses. E to +5,
C to the leds.

Finally, I think I sort of understand the reason from reading
some pages about transistor theory, and I wonder if for the anodes I
should actually be using FETs instead?

I like using MOSFETs for driving loads where I need more isolation (or
lower drive current), but transistors should work fine for this
application.

Make sure that you have base resistors, either explicit or built-in.
The value chosen depends on Ice and Hfe of the transistors you're
using.
