You won’t need to obtain a device driver but you may need to configure your build to include LCD support; unless the default for this has changed, the Gumstix buildroot doesn’t have it enabled by default.
You are also likely to have to provide application level software to put something on the display. People have reported successful results making TinyX work from buildroot. Another option is Qtopia, but I don’t believe the buildroot configuration for it compiles cleanly with Gumstix. I build my own outside of the buildroot level, but using the buildroot-produced cross compiler.

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Samsung 4.3 LCD panel- Do I need a device drivertoo?
Would I need additional drivers to handle displayed information on the Samsung LCD?
I have a Verdex XL6P, Console-VX. According to the Gumstix website, the LCD is plug-and-play. Can I trust that this means I *don’t* need any sort of device driver in my system?
If I do need a device driver for the LCD, where can I get one?
Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha!
