I assume that, when I remove the resistor I'll have to connect the two pads that the resistor was on with a small piece of wire or whatnot?

The resistor labels are incorrect.

The label STTXD is really for STRXD
The label STRXD is really for FFRXD (i.e. console)
The label BTRXD is really for BTRXD (i.e. this one is correct)
The label BTTXD is really for BTCTS

If you're just receiving, then you need to remove the resistor
labelled STTXD (which is really for the STRXD line), and connect the
serial output of the ID20 to the STRXD line.
