I tried building afresh with a newly downloaded copy, and that still gave this same problem. So i switched from SUSE to ubuntu on my host instead. I did not face this error and everything went well(kernel, uclibc and binutils..) when i got this error

I suspect that there was some snapshot junk left over in the build  
directory.  Do this:

rm -rf build_arm_nofpu toolchain_build_arm_nofpu
make

Should work then.
