Problem solved using Python API

UARTConfigStruct = UART_CFG_Type()
UART_ConfigStructInit(UARTConfigStruct.ptr)
UARTConfigStruct.Baud_rate = 9600
UART_Init(LPC_UART1, UARTConfigStruct.ptr)
UART_TxCmd(LPC_UART1, ENABLE);

Howdy Juan,

Assuming you have muxed the UART through correctly, it should be quite
easy in python. I have used pyserial before, I assume you are using this?

Subject: [Gumstix-users] Using Robovero uart through

Hi everyone,

I need to read a GPS from a RobOvero through its UART. However, in Python
client examples there is not information about changing baud rate and
other UART parameters. I've seen that it may be done from C, but isn't
there any way to do it from Python directly?

Thanks and regards,

Have a look at this tutorial: http://robovero.org/index.php/wireless

It explains how to set up networking so that wifi comes up
automatically on boot. I have heard that it can take some time for the
interface to come up but I haven't seen the problem personally.

Hi Neil,

Thanks, I'm already using the Robovero Python library, I'm reading the
IMU with the example, and plan to control a servo today. However, now I'm
having with Wifi connection. I've removed the networkmanager, but the
network interface takes longer a long period to get working, after that I
have to ifup wlan1 manually (do not know why it is renaming from wlan0
yet) to get an ip.

Any clue ??

Running the latest stable version 2.6.39

You can compile the cdc_acm module if you have a cross compiler and

staying with the image you have, I would recommend updating to a more
recent version - I've successfully tested the latest dev images with
RoboVero.

Thanks Neil, but can't I compile it into the existing linux version
on my gumstix? without having to create an additional OS ?

You shouldn't have to change anything on the RoboVero. Just grab an
up-to-date image from

follow the instructions for building a bootable MicroSD:

Good luck!

Dear Neil,
Thanks for your answer. As you supposed my Overo's image doesn't
have the
cdc_acm driver installed. I have a theory related to this issue. I
bought
both the Overo Fire and RobOvero to a distributor in Europe
(France), and we
had to wait almost for a month while Robovero was sent from US;
maybe, and
this is just my theory ;), in France they did have the Overo Fire
in stock
with an old image which doesn't include the appropriate drivers.
Should I
complete some compilation steps given here
http://wiki.gumstix.org/index.php?title=RoboVero?
Thanks and I'll be waiting for your answer.
Best regards,

Hello Juan,

The ttyUSB(0/1) devices are the FTDI console port and JTAG. This
confirms that the Overo has control of the hub. Since you can run
examples from an external machine the firmware must be ok.

What image are you running on the Overo? One item to confirm is
that
the cdc_acm driver is installed. Using my latest build with an
Overo
Air I get

# modprobe cdc_acm
usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_acm
cdc_acm: USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN
adapters

Let us know if this helps. I think another user was having a
similar
problem.

Hi everyone,

We just bought an Overo Fire to be used over a Robovero expansion
board.
I've been able to communicate from my laptop (Mac OS X) to the
Robovero
board. I run some examples from my Mac, including the IMU and ADC
ones. I
also communicated to the Overo Fire using Kermit, I set up the wifi
connection, and now I'm connecting to the Overo Fire through SSH.
However,
when I pretended to run the same Python examples (I already
installed the
dependencies), I can't see the USB device from the Overo. When I
checked the
devices 'ls /dev', I don't see /dev/ttyACM0:
