I surmised as much concerning the power, so i took the supply that feeds the robostix, stuck a 7805 on it, and then hooked that to the netwifi. seems to work fine..but i will perform the modification in the link provided.

How should i disable FB though? I do have a functional buildroot(fresh off svn), however with serial console being nonfunctional and the gumstix never seeming to show up on the network, I'm not sure how exactly to go about it. I do have a flex cable, so perhaps i can solder serial wires(through the converter) to that and remove the robostix to put a new fs on.

the serial adaptor is a FTDI type, not sure what speeds it supports. i'll try hooking it up to a normal serial port though

thanks,
ziggy

Hi Ziggy,

There are two issues happening here:

1 - If you have a wifi module - you need to connect V_BATT to
V_ROBOBATT as described here:
<http://pubs.gumstix.com/documents/robostix_power.pdf>

Without this, the gumstix will reset when it tries to power on the wifi module.

2 - You need to disable the framebuffer support, as described here:
<http://docswiki.gumstix.com/Robostix_framebuffer>
This is for buildroot. For OE there were some instructions posted in
the last week in the list archives.
