I have since found out that there is a kernel option as defined in :

tmp/work/gumstix-custom-connex-angstrom-linux-gnueabi/gumstix-kernel-2.6.21-r1/defconfig á
that _might_ need to be enabled to allow this kernel module to be built ….

CONFIG_NETDEVICES=y

# CONFIG_IFB is not set

# CONFIG_DUMMY is not setá I guess this needs to be set to build it as a module …?

# CONFIG_BONDING is not set

# CONFIG_EQUALIZER is not set

CONFIG_TUN=m

the actual file is in:
tmp/work/gumstix-custom-connex-angstrom-linux-gnueabi/gumstix-kernel-2.6.21-r1/linux-2.6.21/drivers/net/dummy.c

How can I enable this and make sure that the “dummy.ko” module gets compiled and built as part of my image?

Subject: [Gumstix-users] OE: dummy0 interface?

Hi All,

Just wondering how I can get the “dummy0” network interface available as is available for other versions of Linux … ?
If I remember correctly there was a kernel module called “dummy0” that had to be compiled and loaded … .

Any pointers are appreciated !
