I’ve had absolutely no success at all getting wi-fi working on my connex/netCF combination.

I’ve tried both the factory flash images and my own built flash images.  I have both a Belkin F5D6060 and an Ambicom WL1100C-CF; neither works.  I’ve followed the instructions to disable MMC support and enable CF support in /etc/modules.  I added “auto wlan0” to /etc/network/interfaces.  Still, neither card works.

Among my problems (these examples from the factory flash imaged gumstix):

Here’s iwconfig, with hostap it should show wlan0 and wifi0 and a bunch of other information, instead it just heckles me for having the wrong versions of things:

# iwconfig

lo        no wireless extensions.

usb0      no wireless extensions.

Warning: Driver for device wifi0 recommend version 18 of Wireless Extension,

but has been compiled with version 17, therefore some driver features

may not be available...

wifi0     IEEE 802.11-DS  Mode:Managed

          Encryption key:off

eth0      no wireless extensions.

Here’s some dmesg output, it just goes on and on:

This is with the Belkin, which reputedly is really easy to use and set up according to http://people.csail.mit.edu/bpadams/roomba/.

What am I doing wrong?  It must be something fundamental.
