this is probably bad etiquette to post on seagull list, but have you looked at pyprotosim on sf? After using that, id never go back. it's taken a bit to learn the python around it, but we now have full control over sctp, avp based logic, dynamic destination choices, etc. <br>

I’m using seagull as client to simulate calls to multiple diameter peers. I configured a couple of “send/receive” sections to communicate with different channels in one scenario.

Now, I want to test the capability of fail-over for the diameter servers. So I’d like to configure my seagull client to be able to re-send messages to a standby channel when the original channel is not reachable.

e.g. I configured a scenario having diameter CCR-I message to be sent to channel 1 and CCR-U message after it to be sent to channel 2. When channel 2 is closed, I hope seagull can send the CCR-U message to channel 1 which I was configured as standby channel.

I noticed seagull has a “reconnect” option for channel. According to my test, reconnect option allows seagull to reconnect to a “standby” channel when the original channel is disconnected. However, it will start over the scenario from “init” section. I hope seagull can somehow start over the scenario from where it failed. E.g. when seagull tries to send message to channel 2 but channel 2 was closed, it re-sends this message to its “standby” channel and continues to send following messages for channel 2 to the “standby” channel.

I don’t know whether there is a way I can configure seagull client to do so. I appreciate any ideas to make it work. If I have to customize seagull source code, could anyone give me some suggestions?
