textsub and pixel aspect ratio (virtual dub)

  • Anonymous - 2007-07-31

i use the textsub plugin with virtual dub to hardrender subtitles to avi file
the source file has a 16:9 pixel aspect ratio, but virtual dub preview-renders it as 1:1 square pixels. my problem is that the textsub plugin also renders as if the file had a 1:1  square pixel aspect ratio, so as a result in the outcoming the subtitles look squezed.
    what can i do?

      solved the problem:

      with the program aegisub
      choose tools/ style manager
and you can specify the x scal.
if your video is 16:9, the pixel aspect ratio is 1,422
so you have to set the x-scal to 70%
      save as ass (not ssa)
and render with virtual dub / textsub plugin

Great!  Thanks for posting the answer.
