If I run media player classic (mpc) and open a file from a mapped network folder in windows, does mpc copy the file to localhost or what happens? Suppose I am running mpc from a machine with just 200Mb of free disk space and the movie file opened from the mapped network folder is 1Gb, will there be a problem? How? Thanks in advance for any answers.
MPC just plays it as it's read off of the mapped drive.
Could 2 clients access and read the same file simultaneously in this scenario? Or would the file be locked by the first client playing it from the mapped hetwork drive?
I've never tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work, since the MPCs should only have the file open for reading and not writing.
You could always just try it for yourself. ;-)
Come to think of it, I've opened the same local file in MPC and WMP at the same time and there was no conflict. I seriously doubt there would be any difference for a mapped drive.
