I was wondering if there is any documentation explaining how amplifiers and distortion is modeled in Guitarix. I'm a graduate Audio DSP/Electronics Engineer with an interested in guitar distortion effects.

Most of our dsp code is written in faust, you could check it out in the trunk/src/faust folder.
For modeling the tubes and some other distorion units, we've written some tools we use. Those you'll find in the trunk/tools directory. All that is not very well documented, you need to use the source code as documentation.
