I can't reproduce that, install path for guitarix.desktop is "${DATADIR}/applications" which becomes: /usr/share/applications/ when propper configured.
here guitarix.desktop isn't installed anywere else.

I can reproduce it with --disable-nls, and not with --enable-nls.
There should be no relationship beween the desktop file and nls.
Ah, okay, I could reproduce now. A fix is pushed to git.
