Hey one of our guildies has a problem with the following line of text continually spamming chat:
[GuildAds][Playername]: <G2G754>Death By Chocolate:9L

Replace Playername above with his name lol...
The name of our guild is Death By Chocolate, so it joins a channel something like that when you first enter world, but we have everyone enter a manual channel and password: chocosmash. We are an alliance of guilds - Death By Chocolate and The Smash Clan - which is why we do it that way.

He has tried deleting and reinstalling guildads which didn't work, and blacklisting him also doesn't keep that message from displaying on everyone's chat. The guildie in question, however, can't see it, and it displays even if he isn't currently using GuildAds.

Any clue what could cause this and how we fix it?

Ty ty!

Someone must be using an addon that is sending this message onto the same channel as GuildAds uses. Any message not sent by GuildAds is shown as the message you report, with the channel name replaced by [GuildAds]. You can easily test this by sending a message to the guildads channel manually:

    /5 Hello there

Assuming channel 5 is the guildads channel, you will see this:

    [[GuildAds][playername]: Hello there

So, your co-player, "playername", is on the channel and sends that message. The nature of the message indicates he is doing it with an addon (the structure of the message is not part of the GuildAds protocol structure). The reason he can't see it himself means he has an old addon installed that filters channel messages. In the patch 3.1.0, Blizzard changed message filters and if addons haven't been updated (guildads has), they (the addons) will effectively remove _all_ channel messages from the view of the player, which is why he can't see it himself. This can have serious consequences, not only for GuildAds but for his generel experience of the game. Have him/her disable all addons and enable them one by one until he loses the ability to see channel messages. Then the faulty addon has been found.

Blacklisting a player in GuildAds only removes a players data from the database and servers no purpose in this regard. You should whitelist that player again.

The addon that sends the message is Guild2Guild. I don't know how many of you are using it, but it isn't compatible with GuildAds it seems. You will have to use Guild2Guild on a different channel than the GuildAds channel.

If you just need to communicate with the other guild, you can talk directly on the GuildAds channel like this:

    /ga Hello there

"/ga" is a shortcut for talking on the GuildAds channel.
