Hi, I cannot try it out at the moment but I think I know what the problem could be. If I remember correctly, gui4j automatically makes an edit field not editable when the optional attribute "setValue" is not specified. This is not mentioned in the documentation (see http://www.gui4j.org/gui4jdocs/edit.html) and should be added. It's also questionable if this automatic behaviour is the right thing to do for gui4j. You'll need the "setValue" attribute anyway as soon as you actually want to store the input value somewhere. Hope it helps. May I ask what you are using gui4j for? We are curious since we had very little feedback from the community after making gui4j open source in 2005.
