Another idea :)

a sound notification, that you can turn on or off by clicking on a icon next to the ping.
this notification woud be played when the ping changes states.

would look like this :

the sound would be manageable in the settings (custom sounds by browsing .WAV files on local machine)

like before, i put the icon files in our dropbox folder ;)

cheers !

also, of course, when you quick ping a host, by default the sound notification would be off :)

maybe two sounds ? one for no longer pinging, another one for pinging again ?

Thanks for icons! Sound notifications added. There are two notifications: ping state changed and after packets lost (treshold configured). Sound files should be in "sound" directory, there are two default sounds (notify.wav and alarm.wav). You can put there own sounds. Settings window scan this directory for .wav files and list them in combo boxes in settings - here you can customize sounds :)

Sound notifications are enabled/disabled globally for now. I wonder if it is a good idea to give users possibilty to enable/disable for each ping individually. What do you think?

    Cool !
i reuploaded another icon on the dropbox (the red one) just now ! it's better looking (tiny details).

yes to me individual enable/disable is VERY important :)
that was my idea in the ticket actually :

"a sound notification, that you can turn on or off by clicking on a icon next to the ping."

clicking on that icon would turn the sound notification ON or OFF, and by default, every new quick ping would have the sound notification OFF.

So to me the box "state change enable" in the option would be useless.
It would be manageable directly for the speaker icon in the list of pings :)

Let me know if this is not clear :D

edit : ok i just tested the "change state notification" and I think you could improve it a little :
    I tested this :

    pinging my router
    disabling my network adapter

and I have 2 notifications because the state changed twice :
it went from "success" to "1231" and then to "unable to get the host by name"

I think it would be better if it would just change when it's not "success" anymore, and when it's coming back to "success". But not with other states. What do you think ?

As clear as day ;) I also tought about small amount of space (like remove button, ticket #5). But ok, you convinced me ;)

    You are abolutely right!

    amazing !
but there's a bug :) the sound notification doesn't work when is goes from pinging to not pinging.
but it works when the ping comes back.

It should work, but there is a treshold 10 (by default, configurable in settings) unsuccesfull pings. Maybe this is the reason why you don't hear notifications?

Could you match the tone colors of speaker icons to colors of other icons? I mean red and green colors.

oh yes indeed ! I didn't pay enough attention to the settings but now I get it. That treshold is a VERY brillant idea. That's PERFECT !

ok I will change the icons tomorrow as requested ;) it's pretty late now in France ;)
I will let you know here when it's on the dropbox

      cheers !

    icons are updated :)

can you also add a setting that gives us the possibility to have the sound ON or OFF by defaut when a new quick ping is started ? that would be great :)

Hi, thank for icons, looks nice :)

Enable/disable sound for quick ping added.

      perfect !
I'm glad you like the icons :)

if I may suggest something, you should rename the setting in my opinion.
from "Sound enable" to "Sound enable by default". Or maybe a floating help bubble explaining what it does ?

    hi,
do you think you could also add a threshold on the "ping ok" sound (notify.wav) ? like for the "alarm" sound.

I get a notification even after a single packet loss that the machine is back up again on the network. A lot of bips ^^

    cheers

    Hi!

Sure, I will try to add threshold today :)

just tried it, and i'm sorry but know it's doesn't.
let me try to explain :

even with the setting you put, if we lose a single packet, the sound will be there after the ping is back.

what would be better in my opinion is to monitor how many packets have been lost since the last change of state (from "green" status to "red" status) : if it's less than X "LP" > do not play the notify.wav
and this "X" value would be the one we define in the settings.

I hope this is more clear :)
      cheers
