You could try to get them from www.mysql.com, but I dont know if those are still available. The best thing to do is to download the SRPM of libgtrans_mysql_etc_etc and rebuild it. This would link libgtrans_mysql with the version of MySQL that you use. $ rpm --rebuild libgtrans_mysql_etc_etc.src.rpm Anyway I will check the RPMS and try to find a way to avoid this in the future. No need to add me as a > developer; I can access the code through source forge. > > Also, I just noticed another solution based on gnome-db. I haven't > checked it out though. The problem with gnome-db, is that it does not handles indexation, I have thought of this to, but I feel that indexation is one of the most important features. Also, the part of the problem that can be taken care of now, is modifing the libgtrans_ifase result structure so it wont copy the complete result and waste time and memory. If anyone wants to hear more about this idea let me know and I will elaborate more on this subject. I am also creating a new matrix widget from scratch which will probably have some kind of paging system to reduce the memory allocated by the visible cells. Matias. |

This should, if not complelty fix the problem, help in some ways. Another thing that causes the problem is that creating visible cells for that many registers takes up a lot of memory. Any suggestions on how to fix this last one are wellcome. Greeting, Matias. |

That is a problem that we are aware of, which we have the intetnion to fix, but currently, we are taking care of some other things that we think are more important. We are only 2 developers, and gnome transcript is a huge proyect which requires excellent planing and that takes some time too. So I am taking this oportunity to ask if any of you would like to help in the development. ???? If you do, contact me ma...@us... Greetings to all. Matias Mutchinick. |

Hello Gnome Transcript 0.2.0 has been released. Changes include some important bug fixes and code freeze. Actually this release has been ready for 3 weeks now but had a very rought time uploading it. This release doesnt include any of the changes we talked about. I am currenlty working on a more suitable matrix widget for gnome transcript, that will allow gnomne transcript to grow better and more powerfull. Greetings, Matias Mutchinick. |

Hi, Firstly Sorry about adding this patch using the pacth feature of sourceforge , it kept on failing to add the patch.. so hear it it attached.. Basicaly it escapes the chars '"%_\ in a field of the SQL query that cause it to fail to add or update the record. It's a quick a dirty but works. paul -- *************************************************************************** Paul R. Well, I have already started to do some work on both tasks, the query engine and the ability to edit the structure of tables. The query engine is more on the way cause design issues are easyer. But I will work on both on a new development version. Version 0.1.x has been freezed which means no more features, so I guess the next release will be 0.2.0 and only for bug fixes. And I have started 0.3.0 wich will include the query engine and the ability to edit the strucure of tables. Greetings, Matias. |

I would think that from a usability standpoint the query engine would be = the most useful. However, there are many of these in existence, so = there is no immediate need for a replacement, besides the fact that it's = nice to have everything in one app. The table editing feature is far more ambitious, and would be a = differentiating feature for Transcript. I vote for table editing. John |

There's two things to consider: cost-to-implement and end-user-preference. Cost-to-implement seems to say query-launcher, and I'd think the end-user-preference would be query-launcher, based solely on the fact that I think most people don't spend as much time designing tables as *using* them. Hi all, Now that Gnome Transcript 0.1.5 has been released and the code is getting more stable with each release I think it's safe to add a new feature, some of the planned features are. Ability to edit the structure of tables. Add filtering capabilities to the table editor. Add a (simple) query launcher engine. Which one of these do you think that should come first, I probably think that the query launcher engine for some reasons: 1.- It is easyer to program and would be ready sooner than the other ones. 2.- SQL is all about queries. 3.- It's missing big time. So, what do you think? Regards, Matias. |
