I recently bought an ipod nano, and i'm trying to use it with gtkpod. i plugged it in - fresh from the store - it was automounted, and after starting gtkpod and clicking "Read", i got an "import aborted" error, stating that "/media/ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB" does not exist. the prefix is right, i do indeed have a "/media/ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes" directory, but it's empty save for an empty file called "firsttime", which i can only assume is some kind of ipod-internal marker file indicating that the ipod hasn't been used with itunes yet or something. i tried touch'ing an iTunesDB file to mollify gtkpod, but it didn't like it (i'm using 0.94.0) - i got some kind of seek/offset error. i also tried "File->Create iPod's Directories", to no avail. i've read a bunch of posts on various fora about this problem, but none of them had a satisfying resolution. i'm assuming that i could probably fix this by using my ipod with an itunes installation, but that is difficult for me, as it means installing windows somewhere. is there any i can either (a) create a skeleton iTunesDB file, (b) get gtkpod to ignore the fact that it doesn't exist (and have it write a new one) or (c) obtain an iTunesDB file from someone?
