Hi. Wanted to let you know in part that I'm getting an error message for an error that doesn't exist. This occurs when I edit the track information for an mp4 file. The message says it isn't supported, but the information IS edited and saved. I don't know if it's because I'm using a different version of the routine you edit the file names with or why, but wanted you to know about this. I have Ubuntu 10.04 with kid3 v1.3, libavidemux0 v 1:5.2.1, and associated programs - not sure what you use.
Also wondering, I have aacgain 1.8.-0.0 as well, and it SAYS it can normalize volume levels across mp4 and mp3 file types, and I'm wondering if it's possible to use for gtkpod. If not, maybe I can use it separately to do this, so not a high priority.
Can you provide the incorrect error message so we can look it up in the code base?
I am getting one which states "unknown error" so will start with trying to fix that one....
I think that the metadata is being written to the itunes database but there is no support for changing the tag stored in the actual mp4 file but will have to check to confirm that.
There is provision for including a path to aacgain in the preferences so it is possible to normalize tracks in gtkpod but the normalize commands are not currently in the Tools menu. Shall include them again for 2.1
Cheers

It comes up as a warning message (gtk?? ! Warning), stating:
The following has occurred:
Writing to video files not yet supported (filename)
Couldn't change the tags of the file: (file path and filename.
