Currently, there is no native method to restore an iPod to factory settings, we depend on itunes in order to do this, meaning we would need window/mac, Apple has the .ispw files wich are the used images to restore an iPod, it would be great if gtkpod used these to make a restore to ipods.

I pretty much agree with you. The problem is that nobody really knows how to do it :-( When you figure out a way please let us know.
