Every time I add music to my gtkpod library, I can see everything normally. But when I close the application and then open it again, I can't see the artwork from any of my songs. This only happens with the gtkpod music library and not the iPod library. To display the artwork I have to update the tracks from file, so gtkpod can read the artwork from the ID3 tag. I don't know if gtkpod save the artwork info in a file, like iTunes, maybe there's an error in this, or maybe it's not being saved in any place at all.
This is a really annoying bug, since I have to update all my music library every time I open it, and it takes for ever. And if I sync my iPod when gtkpod has been just opened, the artwork will fail to transfer to the iPod. So it's strictly necessary to update the tracks before sync.
I've tried the SVN version, and the problem still exists.
I remember that old version of gtkpod didn't have this problem.
Can somebody take a look at this bugs, it's a huge bug and annoying one. I've tried in different computers, all using Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 and the same problem is found.
Everytime gtkpod is open, the software can't show any artwork in the Album Art windows, on the lower left corner, or even if I display the details of a song. It just shows that there isn't any artwork for the songs, but there is. The artwork is save inside the ID3. I don't have any artwork files store locally, the option "Read embedded cover art information" is checked but still, gtkpod doesn't display any artwork.
The only way to make gtkpod display artwork is to update all the songs in the library. For large collections of music this is annoying.
This problem is shown only in Local libraries, iPod libraries don't have any problems.
I really think this is a serious bug, can please just take a look at it, and tell me that I'm not crazy and other people are having the same problem.
Can somebody try the attached patch gtkpod_local_coverart_V01.diff (apply to SVN rev 2157) and let me know if I'm on the right track. The attached patch should work with coverart stored in separate files. It does not work with coverart embedded into the audio file -- I have to work on that still.
JCS.
File Added: gtkpod_local_coverart_V01.diff
... and after two years, the bug is still there!
Have put this on my TODO list as I have encountered this a couple of times in the last year and appreciate how annoying it can be. Cannot promise I will fix it but at least will attempt to investigate it and discern why
