Since I'm optimizing graphics by generating (highly optimized) GPU shaders, another requirement is something like gtkglext. I don't see a version on Hackage for use with gtk3. Is there such a thing? If not, are there significant obstacles?

I used the brew formula at with "--without-x" to get gtk3 brew-installed and then continued with "cabal install gtk3 --with-gcc=gcc-4.8". The gtk2hs demos seem to work and no obvious sign of X11 server, but but they still look like Gnome, and don't quite feel like a Mac application.

Any other experience with native gtk3 and native Quartz?
