To avoid Gtk2 installation, I patch Makefile.PL, remove all Gtk2 referenc=
es and
replace Gtk2::CODEGEN by Glib::CODEGEN.

It seems to works. I send you the patch.

Code generation is only use at compilation and installation time, isn't i=
t ?
