Freeplane functionality
  • Hiding, viewing and editing attributes: By default Freeplane shows the attributes. This can give a very cluttered view in the GTD mind map. You can prevent this by hiding the attributes: from the menu choose View > Node attributes > Hide all attributes. If you want to view the attributes, you can hover your mouse pointer over a node and the attributes will show in a pop-up screen. If you want to edit the attributes, you can select the node and press Alt+F9. Another convenient way to access hidden attributes is the Attributes panel, which is one of the four tabs in the Tools panel. Select the node and view and edit its attributes in the Attributes panel.
  • Showing GTD functions in the F-bar: You can make the GTD functions visible by turning on the Freeplane F-bar: from the menu choose View > Toolbars > F-bar. The bar can now serve as a mnemonic, because it shows which function key starts which function. You can also start the functions by pressing the respective buttons in the bar.
  • Drop-down lists in Freeplane attributes: If you double-click the cell for an attribute value a small black appears on the right. If you click on the triangle, you will get a pick-list of all values you have entered for that attribute in the current mindmap.
