Installation

Check upgrade and Freeplane version compatibility information in the README file.

1. Download gtdSyncWithTodoTxt-vx.x.xaddon.mm from https://sourceforge.net/projects/gtdsync/files/.
2. Open the downloaded add-on file in Freeplane.
3. Click Yes to install the add-on.
4. Restart Freeplane.

Apply the following settings in Freeplane:

1. In Freeplane go to Tools > Preferences... > Plugins.
2. Set "Script execution enabled" to "Yes".
3. Set "Permit file/read operations (NOT recommended)" to checked.
4. Set "Permit file/write operations (NOT recommended)" to checked. Without this permission GTD Sync will not be able to write next actions to your todo.txt file.
   
5. Within Preferences go to tab Behaviour and as Standard date format enter "yyyy-MM-dd". This is the standard date format used in todo.txt.
   
6. Within Preferences go to tab Appearance and increase the Standard attribute value width to 80. In this way you can easily read contexts and owners from the pick lists without having to adjust this width manually every time. If this width is still insufficient you can adjust this value later.
   
7. Press OK to confirm the settings and restart Freeplane.

Apply the following settings in your todo.txt apps

Options differ per todo.txt app. If applicable, choose the following settings.

Essential:

• Turn off the option to archive completed tasks to done.txt. Otherwise a next action checked off in your todo.txt app will remain open in your GTD mind map after synchronisation.
• Save your file in UTF-8 encoding, unless you never use any special characters.

Recommended (to be in accordance with the behaviour of GTD Sync):

• Automatically add the date created to new tasks.
• Automatically add the date done to completed tasks.
• Automatically remove priority from completed tasks.
