GTADS 1.13 Windows Binaries Available

GTADS Beta Release 1.13 Binaries are now available for Windows. They still require you to have the java environment but are friendlier and easier to use than the straight .jar files.

Donations Wanted

Beta Release 1.2 is coming out soon, unfortunately having the ability to play 3+ players in GTA or any other game has been put on hold until I have working test machines. VMWare hasn't worked because I need to be able to sniff the proxy packets to make sure things go through. Any small donations will help in getting the things I need for the test machines. One test machine needs a ram chip while the other was a laptop is is beyond repair. Thanks for all you support.

GTADS Account Creation Page

Well I added some server additions for GTADS and most importantly an account creation website at http://66.65.97.42/createAccount.html. This will allow people to just create an account and join GTADS without having to email me for an account. This perl script and form page was put up in the matter of an hour and may have bugs. Feel free to try it out and get on the server. I am mainly testing out creating chatrooms and load.

Alpha Testers Wanted

Alright, the chatroom features are getting refined for the client and it is only a matter of days before this feature will become minimally functional. What I will need though are alpha testers who can login to the server and test chatroom features and the small set of chat commands implemented. A test server will be put up soon specifcially for the alpha chat testers around next week.

Users who sign up to become testers will have the full freedom of using the test server, poking and proding all known features. What i'm looking for here are problems or issues with performance now so that it won't become too much of an issue when the first beta version is released. To sign up as a beta tester either send me an email at
<a href = "mailto:steven.day@gmail.com">steven dot day at gmail dot com</a> or leave me a comment under this entry. Place beta tester in the subject to make it more identifiable and your desired username and password.

Slowed Development

Because of my tight schedule this summer, I have not been able to work on GTADS at as fast of a pace as I have hoped for. Development for this project has been restricted to parts of the weekend and a small amount of time for weekday evenings. Nevertheless development is still occuring, mainly on the server side to accomidate the chatroom feature on the server side. As of this point users are able to login to the server and are presented with a chat window. Soon, hopefully by the end of this week, enough functional code will be applied to allow users to have their first chat session on GTADS.... read more

GTADS test server up

For those who will want to test the progress of GTADS, a test server has been put up that is accessible from the internet. Right now since the major features are being implemented, there really isn't much to test apart from the authentication scheme. The client screen and connection code is being ironed out and should be completed this week so many of you will be able to download the CVS code and play with the client. To use the test server just point the client to 66.65.97.42:7000.... read more

Progress as of 6/3/2005

GTADS hasn't had much code updated in the past few days due to my own busy schedule and also because of planning in the deployment of the client. Since the server is now up the the point where it can accept users and keep them in a connected, I want to have the client have a login screen and allow it to connect and hit connected mode. Once there, Chatrooms and Game sessions will be the next item on the agenda finishing up the chatserver portion of the project and allowing me to work on the client.... read more
