A good thing to implement is gangs. For example a group of players that usually play together could creat a gang, and later when the game has more areas because of more players, gangs can fight for control of territory and they get generic gang npc's. and stuff like that.

I want to make the game as "open" as possible, so it's not constrained by a rigid framework. With this in mind, my ideas about gangs mean that players should feel free to create their own gangs, just as they might in the real world. There is no special (programming) code involved. Players create the gangs on a notional level, and other players can react accordingly.

There is sort of a gang feature in the game. You can join one of the gangs (either Yakuza or Mafia, I forget which).
Thats not really what I mean, I meant a player formed gang, or mafia family, or yakuza tong, or something like that
