I want to scan multiple documents in one scan job with an adf scanner. The result is one big pdf with all documents. Then I have to mark the pages of each document and save the marked pages till the end of all scanned pages.

It would be easier to insert separators (context menu entry 'new separator' on the page where the new document starts) and gscan2pdf generates a new pdf at each separator. There should be also the possibility to remove a separator in the same way.

This could be enhanced by an automatic separator generation, where gscan2pdf recognizes a barcode (code39 code128 etc) which is placed on each first page of a document. It should be possible to validate a barcode in the settings via a regular expression like for example [V][A-Z][A-Z] which defines that the first character must a 'V' and the second and third character must be a letter followed by unspecified characters. Combined with a maximum possible length the barcode for recognition can be distinguished from other barcodes in the document.

There is a barcode recognition available at sourceforge : https://sourceforge.net/projects/zbar/ which can be useful.

I don't see much time advantage between selecting the start and end pages to save, and marking them with separators (Having saves pages, I delete them, so I only ever have to look for the end page).

Having said that, it is an interesting idea, especially the barcode idea.

    Patches welcome!
